My 5 part blog diary as a guest speaker for International Women's Day

Part 4

As women, we often face challenges and obstacles in the pursuit of equality and equity. One of the biggest challenges we face is bias, which can come from external sources, but also from our own internal circles of influence, and even from other women. I recently had the honour of speaking on a panel for International Women's Day. It was an incredible experience to be able to share my journey, my challenges, and my successes with so many other women who are on their own paths to success.

It's a sad truth that sometimes, the limiting beliefs of those around us can hold us back, even when we're striving to break through barriers and achieve great things. But the good news is that we don't have to let those beliefs define us. We can overcome them by surrounding ourselves with strong female leaders, friends, and other influences.

When we surround ourselves with women who inspire us and lift us up, we create a powerful support system that can help us to overcome the bias and limitations that we may encounter. We can learn from their experiences and insights, and we can draw on their strength and resilience when we face challenges and setbacks.

But it's not just about seeking out strong female leaders and influencers. It's also about recognizing the biases and limiting beliefs that we may hold ourselves, and working to overcome them. We can do this by examining our own beliefs and assumptions, and by challenging ourselves to think differently and embrace new perspectives.

Of course, this isn't always easy. It can be hard to break free from our own internal biases and the biases of those around us. But when we do, the rewards are incredible. We become more confident, more resilient, and more empowered to pursue our goals and achieve our dreams.

As women, we have a long way to go in the pursuit of equality and equity. But by recognizing the biases that hold us back, and by surrounding ourselves with strong female leaders, friends, and other influences, we can overcome those biases and achieve great things. So let's lift each other up, support each other, and work together to create a brighter, more equitable future for all women.
