I had the opportunity to speak with CBC News last week about a topic that matters to so many Canadians right now: housing affordability and how mortgage trends are influencing buyer behaviour in the GTA and Hamilton area.

In the Hamilton region, home prices have declined, but interest rates remain steady. While this combination might seem contradictory, it’s creating an opening for buyers who were previously priced out.
This is especially true for those who have saved up a healthy down payment or are looking to get pre-approved for the first time. With lower prices and less competition in some pockets of the market, today’s buyers can make more informed, less rushed decisions.

Whether you’re buying in Hamilton, Mississauga, or anywhere across Ontario or BC, mortgage pre-approval is no longer a “nice to have”—it’s essential. As a mortgage broker, I’m seeing buyers gain confidence by understanding their numbers upfront.
